ESTRO was founded in 1980, the European SocieTy for Radiotherapy & Oncology, is a non-profit and scientific organisation that fosters the role of Radiation Oncology in order to improve patients' care in the multimodality treatment of cancer.
The purpose of ESTRO is to promote radiotherapy in all its aspects by setting standards in education and practice, facilitating research, stimulating exchange of scientific knowledge and promoting collaboration in radiotherapy in Europe and beyond as well as with other professions involved in cancer treatment. The society has today over 5000 multi-professional members focusing on radiation oncology. This year the congress will take place in Vienna, Austria from November 28th to December 1st.
Due to the actual COVID-19 crisis and for health and safety reasons, the 2020 annual meeting will be reimagined as a fully VIRTUAL experience.
The theme of ESTRO 2020 is “Translating research and partnership into optimal health”. The innovation in radiation therapy evolve rapidly. The difficulty is to translate into clinical application this results to provide optimal benefit to patient.
