ASTRO's roots date back slightly more than a half-century. In 1950, America's radiotherapists started gathering at Chicago each year to discuss their work. In 1955, some of the most important people practicing radiation therapy in the United States met every year, this formed the nucleus for what would become the largest and most influential meeting for the radiation oncology community.

The theme of the 2020 ASTRO Annual Meeting is Global Oncology: Radiation Therapy In A Changing World. The scientific research presented at the annual meeting is an invaluable asset to both academic and community radiation oncology practices around the world. This year’s annual meeting will have more than 200 sessions and 2,800 abstracts through live, SimuLive and onDemand presentations including the Plenary and Clinical Trials sessions and digital posters with author narration and Q&A.
